Social IncomeMost of our work points outward. At the people who receive the money, the local partners we work with, the digital infrastructure we build in the open, the systems that need fixing. For five days in Oberegg, high up in Appenzell, we turned all of that around and pointed it at ourselves.
So we did the uncomfortable thing. We mapped the Social Income model the way it was first drawn up, then discussed about what we can never change and what we could, and under what conditions. We asked how decisions really get made here, and by whom. Those questions are easy to avoid when the work is going well. We stopped avoiding it.
We also took inspiration from people who have wrestled with the same challenges. Michaela Ledesma from Build Up, on how salaries based on need can actually work when transparency and honest conversation are lived together, not just written down. And Giacomo Castorina Cali from UNOY, on how a network keeps its members close and engaged. Thank you both for sharing so openly.
Some of it we settled. A lot of it we are still chewing on. That was the point.
The Zollhaus hosted our first day. Thank you for the space.

Home for the week was the beautiful Alpenhof. Thank you for letting us take over the entire house.

By chance, the town was celebrating its Biedermeier festival the same weekend.

A big thank you to the Somaha and the PeaceNexus Foundation for making these days possible, and especially to Carole and Maren for facilitating the workshop so professionally.
